A good part of my walks is done facing the sun and as the hat I wear has a small brim it doesn't provide enough shade when the sun is low on the horizon, so I started thinking about making a hat with a wide brim.
After some research I decided to make a hybrid of an Australian hat (bucket hat) and a wide-brimmed hat, I started from the pattern provided by Professor Marlene Mukai and made some adaptations, reduced the measure of the side and increased the width of the brim.
As material I used denim, more specifically a pair of jeans, cotton lining and interfacing, so that the brim would have some body I put the interfacing on the lining and on the outside, so the brim was firm and stays in place.
