Wall organizer

When I set up my sewing room, I placed a pegboard on the wall to store the most used tools while keeping them at hand. This worked for a while, but as expected, over time I acquired more tools and the space began to be scarce. Furthermore, to get to the tools that were at the top of the board I had to get up, and if that wasn't a problem before, now that I have to keep my foot up, it is. So I decided to make an organizer to fill the wall space between the table and the board.

A tote bag made only with reused materials

For those who think that doing creative sewing is expensive, here is an example of how you can get original pieces without spending money, just reuse what you already have. This bag was made with reused materials.

2 in 1 Sling bag

Another 2 in 1 project, a sling backpack with the option to use it either left or right and that can also be used as a traditional backpack, just by changing the position of the strap.

Beach bag / weekend bag

I was asked to make a beach bag, the only requirement was the size, I was given the dimensions that the bag should have to be when finished.

This is the result, as always it has a lot of pockets because I am unable to do simple things.

From overalls to bags #3 (C21)

This is the third and last bag in the set inspired by dungarees, in this one I was also inspired by the pockets of jeans.

It was made by reusing jeans and has four pockets o the outside, two of them where made with the back of the overalls and are ideal for keeping your mobile phone, the other four pockets are from jeans. It also has two jeans pockets inside and is padded and quite light.

From overalls to bags #2 (C18)

This is the second bag in the set inspired by dungarees, in this one I was also inspired by the pockets of jeans.

This bag was made by reusing jeans and has two pockets, the small pocket was made with the front of the overalls and is ideal for keeping keys and a large pocket inspired by the pockets of jeans.

Reversible bag (C19)

To make the first bag of the set inspired by the overalls, I used a shirt whose color matched perfectly with the fabric I chose to use along with the overalls. As it is a color that I really like I decided to try to make a reversible bag and this was the result.

The bag can be used either with the patterned side out or with the plain side, and since all sides are different it is practically a 4-in-1 bag.

3 in 1 bag

Small bag / purse

Yet another versatile project with several different uses, this time a three-in-one bag. It's a shoulder bag that transforms into an ecobag or backpack and completely made with reused materials, all the elements used were taken from other pieces.

From top to a reversible hat

It’s been a while since I had the idea to do a hat to wear in winter, I wanted a deep hat that would cover the whole head including the ears, to protect them from the wind, and with a brim for the sun but also for rainy days, so my glasses don’t get water droplets.

Foldable box carrier

Another one of my crazy but useful ideas, I needed something that allowed me to carry a big box and still have a free hand, this was what I come up with, a foldable fabric carrier.

Making a storage box to size

To end the series of posts related to cardboard boxes, I'll share how I made the boxes to fit on the shelving unit. Just as the unit had to have specific measurements to fit the space that was available, the boxes also had to have the right measurements to fit on the shelves and make good use of the space.

Organizers made of cardboard

When I made the boxes to put on the shelving unit, I also made some storage trays, they are a practical option for storage, made of cardboard and can be made in any size.

An old T-shirt turned bag

I've been wanting to try to transform a t-shirt into a bag for some time, and I finally did it, my idea was to make a unisex and reversible bag, I started with a tshirt that had a print on the front and for the other side I used some jeans.

Wrapping cardboard boxes with wallpaper

Continuing on the topic of cardboard boxes, it's time to talk about how to line large boxes, which due to their size don't allow using the method I showed earlier, for that I use one of the following options:

Wrapping cardboard lided boxes with wallpaper

Following last post it’s time to show you how to turn a shoebox into a decorative storage box, an easy project that can be made not only with wallpaper but with other materials and that you can use to make personalized gift boxes, this way the box is more than the wrapping is also a gift in itself.

Wrapping cardboard boxes with wallpaper

The most common way I use to “disguise” used cardboard boxes for reuse is using wallpaper and wallpaper glue, this is because after the renovation of my house I had several scraps of wallpaper and I decided to try lining a box to see what would be the result and I really liked it.

An upcycled shelving unit

Despite my best efforts my sewing material has multiplied and I needed more storage. Since my sewing room is also used as the exercise room, I had to be strategic about where to put it. I decided that the best use of space would be the nook in front of the window, which is effectively a dead space.

Organization with boxes

Another simple idea to put into practice in several rooms of the house, organization using reused cardboard boxes.

I am one of those people who thinks that everything has a place and I like things organized, and one of the great allies of organization is the use of boxes, it is not by chance that the storage sections in stores have a huge variety of boxes, in different shapes, sizes and materials.

Storage with upcycled cans

Photo 1

As I mentioned before, I always try to reuse objects, as is the case with my laundry storage system, a set of metal cans and plastic buckets that serve to keep everything in place.

Denim bag with flowers

It shows that I like to make bags, here is another one.

It's a  shoulder bag made with denim from old jeans and cotton fabric and it's padded and lined with cotton fabric.

One side has three flowers sewn to it and the other has two pockets, one with a snap button.

The bag closes with a magnetic button and has a double pocket inside.
