Patchwork denim bag

Last week's piece was a shoulder / crossbody patchwork bag made with small strips of denim cut from several jeans. This is a way of using the small denim scraps that are left over from the larger projects.

I'd never thought of using them until a saw a youtube video where the creator made a piece using just scraps, I thought that was such a great idea, and the final piece shown there was beautiful and unique. If you want to see pieces made with scraps visit this channel, Rosa has a lot of tutorials using scraps, she even does art with the little strips that are left over from trimming fabrics.

After seeing that I started to save all my scraps, I now use one container twhere I put the leftover fabric that can be cut in smaller pieces to use later and other for the pieces that are not suitable for reuse in sewing projects but that can be used as filling, I’ve made some pillows for ironing with them.

The bag is made with denim and is padded and lined with cotton fabric. The strap is adjustable so it can be used as a shoulder bag or as a crossbody bag.

It closes with a magnetic button and has a double pocket and a jeans pocket inside.
